Fashion Scandal

I keep falling more and more in love with Gems & Kisses creations. Deliziosa Vendetta, the designer, seems to have a limitless imagination and just keeps bringing out must have pieces, not only the finest jewellery, but exquisite couture gowns, like this one, that just beg to be photographed.

Gems & Kisses was 2 years old in April 2011, and to mark the occasion had a month long event of new releases issued as gifts or at reduced prices. Then they stunned us all with an amazing yard sale that maxed out my inventory. They also set up a new 99l$ store, next to the mainstore - where you can pick up fantastic pieces at even more fantastic prices.

Dark, mysterious and glamorous, Fashion Scandal - Scream of a Designer is a must have. Here I wear it with Creature of Darkness Choker, also from Gems & Kisses,  a bodice and gloves from Black Mistress by Glam Affair, fishnet tights from Blowpop, and Layla skin in grey by Glam Affair for The Dressing Room (on sale NOW but only for another week or so!). The boots are from Pacadi Jasha, sadly now closed.

I took this shot in my studio, using the fabulous posing chair from Diesel Works.

Visit Gems & Kisses - you're sure to find something you just have to have!

Rockabilly Cutie

Rockabilly was the theme of last week's Model's Workshop weekly styling challenge - this is the winning look I put together. I've won this 4 times now, it's getting a bit embarrassing! But it's a great group and good fun to do, so I keep on having a go. This one was easy for me, as a big Artilleri fan (of the clothes and furnishings) and I dressed in this kind of style a lot in my first year or so in SL, so it was a matter of digging around in my inventory to put this look together.

What I'm wearing:

Red leather jacket - Aoharu; Sabrina Polka Dot swimsuit (worn as top) - Artilleri; Highwaisted jeans - R.icelli

Shades, necklace, belt and tattoo all from Artilleri; Cherry Skull Earrings - from FIN Relive the Fifities sim (I think they were a gift there); Cigarette - Nikotin (comes with a hud to contol smoke and ash length); Nails: Balut tintable fingernails; Shoes (not seen) - N-core Pin Up in red, and Hair - Vanity Hair.

Photo taken on the dock on my private island - behind me is Artilleri's supercute retro Tiki Bar.

Dressing dolly - Bloom Dolls

Another flickr fad that I just had to join in with! Bloom Dolls are the creation of Emma Gilmour of Sand Shack Surf Co. and are just the cutest things to dress up. The dolls cost L$600, and for that you get a complete avatar - shape (2 options), head, skin, 5 poses and a style card. The eyes and eyelids are colour change, and you can show or hide the lashes. The dolls fit most standard SL clothing (with a bit of prim editing) so the possibilities are endless. There are about 6 female dolls to choose from, and there are 2 male options too, so guys can join in the fun.

Buy them here: Sand Shack Surf Co.

I'm wearing Spooky Bloom - a gothic dolly with pale skin, dark eyeliner and red lips. My first look is Couture Bloom.

Couture Bloom wears Fashion Scandal - Scream of a Designer skirt, top and hat, the stunning new outfit from Gems & Kisses Couture; bodice and gloves part of Black Mistress from Glam Affair; fishnet tights from Blowpop, Lace mask - a special from The Dressing Room; Creature of Darkness Choker from Gems & Kisses, Luxury Bangles in black from Gems & Kisses, and Armadillo Plateaus boots from Pacadi Jasha (now closed). Pose from Lost World Poses and photo taken on location at Lost World Sim.

I was feeling a bit more funky for my second look - Boho Bloom.  Boho Bloom wears Tatoom hair from Vanity Hair, Bellamorda Bodice and Mandra Floral Bell Bottoms from Bliss Basic; Magnifique bangles from je Suis; Plastic Earrings from So Many Styles and Discovery of Mars necklace in orange from Gems & Kisses.

Ganguro, the theme set by Bluebell, winner of  the Model's Workshop styling challenge a couple of weeks back, had many of us running for Google. I found this in Wikipedia : "Ganguro appeared as a new fashion style in Japan in the early 1990s and to date is prevalent mostly among young women. In ganguro fashion, a deep tan is combined with hair dyed in shades of orange to blonde, or a silver grey known as "high bleached". Black ink is used as eye-liner and white concealer is used as lipstick andeyeshadow. False eyelashes, plastic facial gems, and pearl powder are often added to this. Platform shoes and brightly-coloured outfits complete the ganguro look. Also typical of ganguro fashion are tie-dyed sarongs, miniskirts, stickers on the face, and many bracelets, rings, and necklaces." There's quite an array of images on the net. It's an incredibly photogenic look, even though, breaking all the rules as it does, it really shouldn't be. When I look at the deep fake tan faces with white eyes and lips, I think anti-geisha - this style is a parody of fashion, yet it can look incredibly cute, vibrant and stylish at the same time.

This was a great fun look to style. The challenge was to create a look that was true to the theme while remaining chic - this is what I ended up with. Luckily I found alomost everything I needed in my inventory already - with the exception of the boots (not shown in picture) which I bought specifically for this look. Ganguro is all about styling - it's how the things are worn that makes the look.

The key element of ganguro is the hair - this is Veruka II from Magika. It comes with a mirror option - so I wore both, and added the pink and orange streaks. The crochet hair flowers come with the Roxi Rose dress from The Sea Hole. I slapped on a tan skin from Glam Affair, and used makeup from Pdiddle - Incognito set.

Working down, the necklaces are the Crystal Long necklace from LaGyo, Beachwear Necklace Ball in yellow from Cheerno, and beachwear Collar in fantasy, also from Cheerno. The loose tank and pink denim mini skirt  are from So Many Styles for The Dressing Room. The bangles are Magnifique from Je Suis, and the nails are Fashion Nails Easter from A+A for The Dressing Room, and the rings are Elegance Rings Series from Mons.

Safari Chic

I wasn't intending to do this week's Model's Workshop challenge - safari chic - but then I dropped into Miel where I found these cool Mo Pants in a great selection of colours, and I couldn't resist them. The watch also came from Miel - it was a Fifty Linden Fridays item a while back.  The vest is Lorelei from Malt. I wanted to spice the look up with some animal print, and chose the leopard print bikini from Antonia Marat of Artilleri.

I accessorised with Africain beads, bellychain, and earrings and Magnifique bangles from Je Suis - all are colour change . The gold nails and rings are from Mandala, and the sunglasses are Electra from Solar. The straw hat and bag are from Saikin.

My skin is Monica Tan from Glam Affair for The Dressing Room, and the hair is Lasting from Elikatira.

I love this cool summer look and I hope you do too :)

Shot on location at the Africa Sim Where else? A beautiful sim where you can take hot air balloon rides over the plains. Check it out at sunset :-)

Quick update - I won the challenge! It turns out I'm the only person whose done that 3 times - so I'm officially a model's workshop style icon! (Well, Idid win bragging rights!) I changed the look a little before the workshop - here's the final look - a little sharper, with the clean cut lines of the R.icelli jacket that I picked up at the Culture Shock event in aid of Medecins Sans Frontiers, short hair from Boon, worn with the Xgen hairbase and makeup tattoo from Maimai, and a camisole instead of the bikini - making for a more classic, chic look.  I have a strong suspicion the only way this lady does safari is in an air conditioned off road vehicle, with a large retinue of staff to look after her, and she carries a big fan, lipgloss and designer perfume in that bag.

Shot at home on my private island.
