Incognito...

I contemplated calling this post caped crusader, but the look is so much more "celeb going incognito" than comic-book hero, and I'm not on any kind of a crusade, so I had to change it. This look screams "look at me and wonder who the hell I am". I love the new hair band/turban, the new group gift from .SHI, and the vibrant red cape style coat from Diram. The eyelash sunglasses are the icing on the cake!

Boobies! the naked truth...

Fake boobs have been around forever in SL, but they've never really caught on the way that the new Lolas! Tangos implants have. Suddenly half of my friends are chatting about their new boobies, which makes for some bizarre sounding conversations "I was just playing with my boobies when...." Given they're such a hot topic at the moment, I thought I'd share some of my thoughts about them.

Lolas! Tangos by Sandy Moonites are mesh implants that come with a menu to select skin tones, nipple shapes, piercings, skin tone blender tattoo layers, some simple garments,  and the clothing layers needed to complete them. You add clothing to your implants using an "applier", and cleverly, a developer pack is included with each purchase, so clothing and skin designers can make their own appliers. There's already a growing range of skins and clothing that is made to fit these boobies perfectly.

You may have noticed that my usual model avatar shape is pretty flat chested, although I do use cleavage enhancers often to give me that "push up bra" look. I have been bustier in the past, but I've never been that impressed with the shape of the standard avatar breasts. The Tangos are a much better shape, a gorgeous texture, and have pretty, perky nipples. They're uber sexy, and wonderful for nude photography!

The Tangos are easy to fit - they're resizable by menu, and the range of skin tone options is good.  Anyone who can use skin tone HUDs for shoes should have no problem with the Tangos. Several skin designers, including my own favorite, Glam Affair, have released skin appliers to get a perfect match too. The shape is ingenious, with the implants extending up to the collarbone, so it's quite easy to position them to fit - if you reduce the size (as I have), you may get some seams at the sides, but these follow the contour of the breast, so they aren't a huge problem.

One downside of the Tangos is the cost - 1750 L$ puts them beyond the range of a casual purchase for most people. As is real life, good quality breast implants in SL are an investment! But, given that these are a once only purchase (you won't be going back for another pair any time soon), and compared to the price of a decent pixel penis, the cost isn't too high for the sheer fun of wearing them.

Another downside is there are no demos available to try before you buy. I'm guessing this is to reduce the likelihood of copybotting. But you can see them worn by a huge variety of avatars on the Flickr group here, and when I went to the store, there were quite a few people wearing them there too, so you can see them "in the flesh" so to speak :).

A potential downside, for the wobbly boobies fans amongst us, is that avatar physics don't work on them. All is not lost, however, as there is a Boob Bounce script available for only 25L$ at Que Bella! that gives the boobies a subtle little wobble when you walk - a nice touch!

Dressing with the implants is a little different too - mesh standard sizing won't come near these melons! So it's back to system layers plus appliers if you ever want to get dressed with your implants on. But there is clothing available, from the predictably slutty to the more sophisticated. I'll be doing a second blog post on dressing your Lolas very soon.

I won't be wearing my implants all the time, but when I want a fun, sexy look, and for some kinds of  modeling and photography (styling burlesque, lingerie and swimwear, for example) I'll be getting them on for sure! If only real life had an option for instant and painless breast enlargement and reduction!

I'd love to hear people's thoughts on the Lolas - have you got some? How are you getting on with them? Have you found any really great designers selling clothing with appliers? I NEED to know!

I just can't get you out of my head

I picked up this draped catsuit "Kylie" from Diram quite a while ago, with every intention of blogging it, but never quite got it together to style it as I wanted, so it sat in my inventory, but stayed in my head, until now.

Diram has produced some of the most original mesh clothing, many of their pieces exploiting the drape that only mesh can provide, and Kylie is a great example of this. With an item as complex as this, it's not surprising there are some issue with the alphas when you move, but for me that's an allowable weakness in an awesome garment!

I can't wait to see what Diram do when the long awaited Mesh Deformer finally happens and alphas can become a thing of the past. In the meantime, you can get the uber-sexy look that Kylie wears in the video of I Just Can't Get You Out of my Head - surely Kylie's best release ever?

It was this beautiful new skin that inspired me to dust my Kylie catsuit down and wear it for this post.  Aida Ewing and Soleil Reid have teamed up and created an incredible line of skins characterized by vibrant and bold makeups - Amberly Dead Apples Petal Edition.

I was already firmly wedded to Amberly - I've hardly taken it off since I invested in the fatpack of the Arctic shade when it was released, but these makeups take it to another level. I loved them all so much I couldn't choose just one, so I ended up treating myself to another fatpack! You'll be seeing lots more of these from me I guarantee!

Keep scrolling for the styling details and SURLs!

Discount shopping :)

The Dressing Room and it's sister event The Dressing Room Blue were some of the longest established regular discount shopping events in SL, spawning and out lasting many imitators.  A regular haunt for the budget savvy fashionista, TDR offered quality designs at reasonable prices, with a new collection every week. It must have taken a lot of energy to keep that going for 2 years, and it's perhaps not surprising that Linka Demina decided at the end of 2012 that a change was needed. So TDR Fusion was born.

With the same 40-70l$ discount policy, but with full price items from the same designers also available, Fusion has a new collection from some 25 designers, including guests, every fortnight. It's much bigger than the old Dressing Rooms, which is a pity if, like me, you were fond of the "tiny boutique full of hidden treasures" feel of the old stores - but, the quality of the designs on offer is as good as ever, and there's a lot of variety in each bigger collection. So still very much a "must check out" destination.

Coral Drops

Ghee has released a new line of budget gowns, priced at just 149L$ each or 599L$ for a fatpack of 6! Coral Drops is a draped blouson style maxi dress with a dropped waist, giving it a 1920's flavour. The bold, fluid stripes of pink on a bright background are wonderfully organic, reminiscent of drops of paint oozing over canvas, and emphasise the drape of the gown over the body. Lovely work from Warm Clarity!

A Taste of Honey

I've been such a busy Bea this past week I've hardly had any time for one of my favourite activities - SHOPPING!!!  But I finally made it to the Bees Through the Seasons event that opened last Saturday. I've been meaning to get there all week, lured by some of the gorgeous bee inspired designs I've seen popping up all over Flickr and the blogosphere.

You may have noticed I have a fondness for yellow - in real life I never wear it because it makes me look quite ill, though I do drive a bright yellow car! But in SL, I love wearing yellow, so I had a hunch I'd find lots to love at Bees Through the Seasons, and I did. The build is uber cute, with the stores set out in little beehives, and there's a small selection of fashion, skins, home furnishings and accessories to tempt you (and they're not ALL yellow either!). I fell in love with the little knitted bee from The Domineaux Effect - it's modifiable, so I made it huge for these pics, but usually it will live on my bed at its original size:)

Golden girl

Well, I finally made it as an SL celebrity! My shape has been copied and put up for sale on the SL Marketplace. I'm taking a philosophical stance on this, as copybotting models seems to be a bit of a trend right now, and as many have said, it's only a few pixels. The worst thing about it is, the copy of my shape is so CHEAP! But, if you really want to walk round SL in an avatar that looks like mine, save yourself a few lindens - IM me inworld and you can have one for free!

I adore this dress from Remy, it called out to me from across the store, and I knew I had to have it! I felt like doing some dramatic styling, and finally got to use this sooooo tall beehive hair from BooN that I've had my eye on for a while...and the striking new makeup from blackLiquid, Forrest, that combines lashes that are tiny silhouetted trees and heavy black eyeliner. I'll be wearing this outfit at some clubs and parties over the next month for sure! Scroll down for the style notes.

Fame

Fame. That's the name of this dress from MOLiCHiNO. Sharply tailored in mesh, this is wonderful to style up, or down, or any way you choose. I can see why they chose this for the styling challenge in the MOLiCHiNO Style Maven contest - you can check out the entries in the Flickr group.

I decided to add a touch of glamour with a feathered collar from Cheerno and the striking Fashionista shades from Glow Studio. I carried on the black and white theme with MOLiCHiNO's Bindi belt and a clutch from Je Suis. Leggings from Bax echo the zebra stripes, and the look is complete with high heeled boots from Maitreya.

Wrap It Up

Back from a fantastic week in NYC (yayyyyy!!!), slept off the jet lag (urghhhh...), now it's time to catch up on what's been happening on the SL fashion scene!

A nice welcome back surprise in my inventory was the new Wrap It Up dress from Xi Zane of LUSH*Limited - a classic style, this wraparound dress comes in 4 luscious colourways - I'm wearing the plum/pink/blue combination.

There's been another new hair release from LeLutka too! All 3 styles are fab, as usual. This is Ella, a wonderfully flattering casual style that I'm loving with my slightly tweaked new look. Yes, I did a bit of "work" on my face - if only it was this easy and painless in real life! The only change is in my mouth, which I've made a little wider - so I thought it was time for a new headshot for the record. What do you think?

Elemental

It's aways wonderful to discover new (to you) designers, and even better when they are your friends! The very lovely Warm Clarity, owner and designer of Ghee, has been trying her hand at SL clothing design for just a year, and she feels rightly proud of her most recent creation - the Elemental Gown.  I teamed up with my sister Kellis Denimore to show you these gorgeous gowns.

Combining translucent mesh, flexi and traditional clothing layers, the Elemental Gown is even more stunning inworld because the mesh and flexi textures are animated, so it glistens and glitters, with a life of it's own. A stunning gown for making an entrance and to ensure every eye is on you on the dancefloor. The gown comes in four colours, named after the four elements - earth, air, fire and water, and each is lovely. Go for your astrological element - as a Scorpio mine is water, or treat yourself to all 4! Get down to Ghee now - here's your taxi. This one is a joy to wear!

Bargain shopping at TDRBlue

There are some fantastic bargains in this week's collection at TDR Blue - this fab feather jacket from Kunglers, ombre dyed skinny mesh jeans from Auxiliary in 2 shades (lilac and yellow), a fatpack of this pony-tail from Loq, and the cute handbag from Mons are all 70L$ or less! I picked up the Fashionista Shades from Glow Studio there a few weeks back too, but you'll have to pay full price for them now I'm afraid! I decided to treat myself to the Converse shoes from Sim-i-Lar to wear with the jeans - not such a bargain price, but they do come with a colour change hud with several colours plus covered and open toe versions - so it's lots of pairs in one which counts as a pretty good deal to me! TDR Blue collections are only in store for 2 weeks, so get down there fast to pick yourself up some great bargains!
