Succumbing to the mesh body revolution

I have a confessions to make. The mesh body revolution almost passed me by. I had issues with my iMac with the latest Firestorm and SL viewers that kept me stuck in the past, using an older Firestorm that couldn't cope with fitted mesh and didn't enable materials. So mesh bodies, and fitted mesh clothing appeared on my screen as jagged lines that stretched to infinity. I could see all the lovely pictures of mesh bodies on Flickr and Facebook, so I knew what I was missing. I just didn't have the pleasure of seeing them "in the flesh" so to speak.

Earlier this year I decided to treat myself to a shiny new iMac, and it's certainly changed my Second Life! No more lag, no more super-stretched jagged lines filling my screen when I go shopping, no more crashing every 3 minutes at Collabor88, and no more texture memory overload crashing! And I see materials effects too! So, of course, I took myself shopping for a new body!

After trying demos, I settled on Maitreya's Lara. This was for several reasons. Firstly, I love the shape, the curves are just right for my skinny frame. The price is great. The HUD is easy to use. It works with Slink hands and feet, so I can still wear Slink compatible shoes. And it comes with pre-set Glam Affair skin tones, which is my usual skin. So it was a bit of a no-brainer for me to go with Maitreya.

So to celebrate, here's my first blog post featuring my mesh body. I felt to do it justice, I should go light on the clothing!
